Research, teaching, learning are some of the most important ways in which transformative change in higher education will have lasting and far-reaching impact. Second Nature is engaging in a network-wide effort to craft this guidance in a way that reflects the significant changes, opportunities, and gaps that exist in higher education with respect to enhancing creative and systems-level thinking around sustainability and climate action.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We will be soliciting input and ideas for this section at innovation@secondnature.com. Please send us your thoughts along with your interest in becoming part of a more formal effort to redevelop this guidance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We will touch on the content, context, and the process of teaching and learning. Themes we are considering for assessing and developing new guidance include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Integrating environmental, social, economic systems in all disciplines<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Building practice into research and research into practice: following the example of medicine<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The role of science assessment (and\/or models) in research, teaching, and learning<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Big data, technology, and the opportunities for citizen science<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Non-degree certification and training: trends, challenges, and opportunities<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Understanding academic success in sustainability<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Driving life-long learning and civic engagement<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Becoming trusted experts and learning \u2018labs\u2019 for the community<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The relationship between research and innovative solutions<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Centers, institutes, labs: organizing the research and teaching<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gaming as a teaching and learning tool<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New funding models and programs<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>Links<\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While we develop new guidance &#8211;
